This set gets rid of the sharp highs and gives the upper midrange a boost.  It's still got scooped lower midrange and the bass is a little loose.   That makes this pickup the ideal choice for smooth 50's tone in the bridge position without sounding "icepicky" or thin.  It's also a perfect choice for people looking for that big Texas blues tone at low volume or through a solid state amp.  It's not a hot pickup but it's got as much heat as I can possibly give it with 42awg formvar wire.  The output is significantly hotter than most stock pickups and that's why I call these extra warm.  Good for blues, rock, country, rockabilly, alternative and just about anything else that sounds good with a single coil pickup.  This is also a very good set for SRV tones if you are a bedroom player.  

These come calibrated for vintage tone on modern guitars which means I use flush poles and demagnetize (degauss) the magnets slightly for that aged alnico sound.  The pickups are potted with my own special shellac mixture that helps to further replicate the tone of vintage alnico and well as adding more texture to the tone which helps your guitar sound more alive.
