Real vintage PAF's were a mixed bag in terms of tone which is why there are so many "PAF's" on the market today.  My blackbacks pickups are named after blackback gorillas because of their strong prescience.   Their design is based on the PAF's produced in the late '50s which used alnico 3 or alnico 4 magnets and thicker wire insulation.

The natural EQ of my blackbacks provides you with a nice balance of bass, midrange, and treble but with an extra sparkle in the high end.  The "sparkle frequencies" are high enough that our ears don't actually associate them with normal treble frequencies so instead of sounding overly bright, these pickups sound chimey and alive.

When these pickups are clean they sound clear, round, and have a strong high end presence.   When you crank your amp the sparkle is "squished" out and you are left with the thick creamy tone that was so popular in '60s rock.
